General presentation. There are currently 33 Dash 8s, run by QantasLink, in the Qantas fleet, which comprises of a total of 201 planes (figures for Sept 2005) There are three series configurations for this plane, the 100/200, 300 and Q400 series. The total seating capacity for the Q400 series is 72 passengers.
The 759 million means the Q400 had almost twice as much capacity as all other Dash-8 variants (-100/200/300) put together. However, it has fewer seats than the alternative prop, the ATR-72 (of all variants), although the ATR-72 has, of course, existed for much longer.
The De Havilland Dash 8-400, operated by Luxwing, is a state-of-the-art turboprop aircraft known for its significant enhancements and superior performance. This aircraft entered service boasting new engines, a modernized cockpit, and improved aerodynamics. Dash 8-400 stands out as the highest capacity turboprop available in the market today.
With the ATR 72 having a maximum capacity of 78, and the Q400 having a max capacity of 90, seating can begin to feel cramped depending on whether the airline chose to have more capacity in the aircraft.
